Rumsfeld lies about lying...
Donald Rumsfeld had the unpleasantness of being confronted by a citizen with the facts during a speech in Atlanta .
The person who smacked Rummy down turns out to not be any run of the mill hippy type protester. The confrontation was initiated by none other than Raymond McGovern . Now if you are like me besides being male, forty, fat and liberal, you have never heard of this McGovern fellow. Suffice to say that he is a long term CIA operative who really doesn't like the way the neocons stampeded America into a needless war with lies and cherry picked evidence. He founded an organization called Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity or VIPS. Of course being reality based, sane and intelligent, these folks have very little use for the current gang misleading America.
So Mr. McGovern gets all up in Rummy's face asking him why Rummy had at one point claimed to know where the WMD in Iraq were. What is Mr. Rumsfelds response? He lied... AGAIN! He literally lies about lying, but Mr. McGovern doesn't let him get away with it this time.
The Rumsfeld lie this time is that he claimed that he never actually said what he is clearly on tape saying. So Mr. McGovern, knowing that the response by this administration when confronted with facts is to lie and obfuscate, quoted Rummy to his face with the damning evidence. This left poor Rumsfeld speechless.
Good job McGovern! Where-as before I had never heard of you or your organization, with today's action you have made me one of your biggest fans.
