That and watching Republicans and Democrats call eachother hypocrites.

Let me join the fray as I pull a John Kerry(voted for a bill before voting against it) and, defend the Republicans before I punch them in the figurative mouths.

Sure, Tennessee Republican Senator Jeff Miller is a hypocrite and morally deficient. Still, it was former president Bill Clinton-D, that signed the Defense of Marraige Act. Like Miller, Clinton also had little regard for the sanctity of his marriage when he was playing "hide the cigar" with intern Monica Lewinsky. The Defense of Marriage Act states that marriage is "a legal union of one man and one woman as husband and wife". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defense_of_Marriage_Act

Action on the side was not mentioned in the bill. Clinton and Miller are hypocrites both but, perhaps Clinton surprised me more in taking a stance that is in opposition to a big Democrat constituency. That being individuals that have a homosexual orientation and seek refuge from the intolerant Right Wing.

Now for that punch in the mouth. He wasn't in office back in 96' but, I'd bet former 2nd district US Rep. Ed Schrock-R (VA) would have voted for it. Schrock after all was in favor of ending Clinton's "don't ask, don't tell" policy on gays in the military. He wanted the ability to question enlistees of their sexuality in order to prevent gays from serving. Schrock withdrew from a re-election effort. Why? He himself enjoyed the company of other men allegedly and was caught.
http://home.hamptonroads.com/stories/story.cfm?story=74982&ran=126361

A tape of a purported gay Ed Schrock phone message was released by BlogActive and can be found here:
http://www.blogactive.com/2004_08_01_blogactive_archive.html
And Republicans are in favor of warrantless wiretapping? Go figure.

Here in Virginia it was illegal under the Virginia Sodomy laws for even a married heterosexual couple to engage in oral sex. In fact, it was a felony until the Supreme Court struck down the Texas Sodomy law that made only homosexual acts illegal. Now this law in Va. is only enforced if the acts occur in public. Former state delegate from Va.Beach and now Virginia's Attorney General Bob McDonnell was frontman in attempts to keep the law in force. When he was asked if he himself ever violated the sodomy statute he replied,“Not that I can recall.” I would think a man of his political positioning would have answered with an emphatic "no" followed by "Ewwww....that's icky!" Not recalling is every bit as dishonest as Bill Clinton declaring,"I did not have sexual relations with that woman". Of course I am very much aware that honest, factual reporting is considered destructive by most liberals and conservatives. And no, just because Clinton misused FISA and his marriage vows, that does NOT mean that it is ok for Republicans to continue to perpetuate said vileness.Britt Howardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15986920803945707276noreply@blogger.com
