Senator Feingold nails it !

Senator Russ Feingold has a diary at Kos that really gets to the core of the issue when it comes to this administrations overreaching power grab. He says:
This administration reacts to any questions about spying on American citizens by saying that those of us who stand up for our rights and freedoms are somehow living in a "pre-September 11th, 2001 world."

[Heres the money quote]

In fact, the President is living in a pre-1776 world.

Our Founders lived in dangerous times, and they risked everything for freedom. Patrick Henry said, "Give me liberty or give me death." The President's pre-1776 mentality is hurting America and fracturing the foundation on which our country has stood for 230 years. The President can't just bypass two branches of government, and obey only those laws he wants to obey. Deciding unilaterally which of our freedoms still apply in the fight against terrorism is unacceptable and needs to be stopped immediately.

Very well said senator. Good luck in the upcoming hearings.

[update: While I'm talking up politicians on blogs, check out representative Murtha on The Huffington Post, and the letter he sent to president Bush about the Iraq quagmire. I'm certain this letter has been framed and hung in a place of honor in the whitehouse. Representative Murtha is spot on.]

Good luck in the upcoming hearings.

Good luck indeed. Good luck in getting the administration to do anything but dissemble and invoke executive privilege.
Run Russ Run!

He sticks to his guns and isn't afraid of this administraion. He is a deficit hawk and won WI in 2004 by 3000% more then Kerry. There was over 300,000 pro-bush people voting for Feingold.
Feingold voted against the first Patriot Act. We can all learn about courage from that guy.
